What Causes Knee Pain?
Knee pain is caused by trauma, misalignment, torn ligament, damaged cartilage, gout, infection, degeneration as well as by other health conditions, such as arthritis. Other causes of pain may be overuse injuries of the knee (tendonitis, bursitis, muscle strains), combination of muscle weakness and overweight. Knee pain is a common complaint for many people.
Knee pain can originate in the bony structures of your body, including the knee joint (femur, tibia, fibula), the kneecap (patella), or the ligaments and cartilage (meniscus) of the knee. You can have chronic knee pain, pain in knee cap, pain behind knee, knee pain while running and walking, pain below knee, and pain behind knee. The knee joint plays a crucial role in bending, straightening, and bearing the weight of the body while providing firm support to the feet, ankles and hip. Dysfunction of the ligaments, tendons, cartilage and muscles surrounding the joint can create an unbalanced foundation that not only cause discomfort, but also a knee pain.
Knee pain can be treated by using custom orthotics, orthopaedic footwear and knee bracing which can provide a balanced foundation for your body. Custom orthotics help strengthen the affected muscles around the knee. Custom Orthotics provide firm arch support that creates balance and eliminates knee pain. Knee pain can be treated with knee brace, custom shoe inserts, orthotic shoe insoles, knee compression sleeves, custom orthotic shoes and heel pads with wedges on one side of the heel to reduce knee pain. Different types of knee braces and wraps may be used for knee pain treatment. They improve knee function by controlling motion, providing support through stabilizing gait, reducing pain through transferring load to another area, and preventing progression of fixed deformities.
At Comfort Clinic, we provide many options of knee pain treatment. We do biomechanic assessment of your knee condition and analyze your gait to apply functional orthotics that can alleviate knee pain and create a balanced foundation.
For those people who spend most of the time standing on their feet, our certified orthotic fitters use comfort functional orthotics that can add extra cushion to support your feet and provide maximum comfort. Our certified body braces fitters can also do custom fitting of a knee brace to provide firm support to your knee without compromising your lifestyle and comfort level.
